Working together on your employment and recovery journey

"I was convinced that life was over for me. Until I became convinced that there was life awaiting me beyond the hospital wards. "

For the Individual Placement & Support (IPS) service within our Employment & Recovery Services, clinical integration is a vital part of the work we do. Working together with mental health services, we ensure wrap around support for our clients' recovery journey, and journey into paid, sustainable employment.

We are always delightd to receive good news stories and successes from client's who've worked with us. One client, working with the Sandwell IPS team, shared their experience:

"I have had a roller coaster of a journey through the mental health system with highs and lows. Some of which had me in a state of depression for considerable periods of time. I was hospitalised under the mental health act, more than once, and went through the lengthy process of getting myself lawfully discharged once again. A process that ultimately took more than a year or two. At different junctures I was convinced that life was over for me. Until I became convinced that there was life awaiting me beyond the hospital wards.

Since discharge I have engaged with my clinical team (consultant, CPN, social worker) until each of these was no longer necessary. I was referred to the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) scheme to assist me in seeking out re-employment which has ultimately been successful. All elements of our NHS Mental Health Services have worked very hard and in tandem with each other to bring about a happy conclusion to my story.”
