It's Autism Awareness Month, and the Black Country Job Support team are raising awareness by sharing how we
support individuals with Autism all year round. 
Employment Retention & Supporting Neurodivergence

Retention Worker, Michelle, shares the ways in which the team support neurodivergent individuals and their employers in the workplace though

  • Creating wellbeing action plans
  • Health passports
  • Negotiating reasonable adjustments
  • Employer awareness workshops

We’re celebrating the re-launch of the Thrive into Work Service as they get set to deliver employment support for a further two years. In addition, the Thrive into Work Neurodiversity services will support neurodivergent individuals across the West Midlands to gain and retain employment. The team support individuals who are:

  • Out of work and want to work OR are on a period of sick leave or at risk of losing their job
  • Have a neurodevelopmental condition such as autism  or ADHD
  • Are aged 18+ at the time of referral

The Thrive into Work Vocational Specialists can support by providing:

  • One-to-one support to suit needs and employment goals
  • Advice on benefits to find out if being in work could increase income
  • Help with finding a job
  • Continued support once in work
  • Help talking to your employers about needs and adjustments at work
  • Regular and ongoing support online or by phone
